“Basically a semi (truck) was pulling a tanker and the oil line on the truck itself broke loose, spilling the oil out of the truck loose,” said Lt. Michael Reese, public information officer with the Sterling Heights Police Department.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on April 25, Reese said, and the road was closed for nearly four hours while crews from the Macomb County Road Commission cleaned up the spill.

No accidents were caused by the oil spill.
