We tell our pitchers if you throw strikes well make plays behind you, Ganfield said. We had opportunities today that went off gloves and we made poor decisions. We had a little bit of everything. The Falcons started out well, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jon Kozak led-off the game with a double, before Spencer Hult followed with a walk. With two out and the bases loaded, Ryan Posavetz singled, driving in Kozak and Hult. However, three Ford fielding errors in the bottom of the first inning led to four Big Red runs, putting Chippewa Valley in front 4-2. Ryan Daar had the big blow in the frame, a two-run double. The score stayed that way until the fifth inning when Chippewa Valley added two more runs, one scoring on a passed ball and the other on an RBI single by David Budka, increasing its lead to 6-2. Ford got one back in the sixth inning as Kyle Hautala walked and eventually scored on an RBI triple by Alex Hacias. However, the Falcons would get no closer, falling to 7-5 overall, 1-3 league. Chippewa threw strikes today and thats all I can say, Ganfield said. We want to hit the first fastball and we had many guys watching that first fastball. Now theyre behind in the count and theyre not going to see that pitch again. The Falcons were led offensively by Kozak with two hits, including a double, scoring a run. Hacias started on the mound and took the loss, allowing seven hits and striking out two in 4 2/3 innings of work. We had two guys - Alex Hacias and Jon Kozak - who came to play today, Ganfield said. Alex didnt throw a bad a game, but the score wouldnt indicate that. He only threw 75 or 80 pitches in his almost five innings of work. Chippewa Valleys Steve Munster earned the win on the hill, hurling five innings, scattering three hits and striking out four. Kevin Peraino pitched the final two innings for the save. Offensively, the Big Red were paced by Daar with three hits, including a double, and two ribbies. Trailing 5-0 heading into the bottom of the third, Jason Fracassa got Stevenson on the board with a two-run double. Jared Biesbrouck added an RBI single in the fifth inning, setting the stage for Pistonos tater in the sixth. Josh Andreycak chipped in two hits and a run scored for the Titans, while David Grabb earned the victory in relief of starter Kyle Alef, hurling 3 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Pistono came on in the seventh for the save, striking out two. The win improved Stevensons record to 14-2 overall, 4-0 league.
