hael Sauer has joined the Utica High School faculty as the school’s new Instrumental Music director. Sauer replaces Sandra Oset, who retired at the end of the last school year after 35 years of teaching and personally chose Sauer as her successor. Sauer is a product of Utica Community Schools, having graduated from Stevenson High School in 1996. Sauer has a degree from Michigan State University and was band co-director at Anchor Bay High School. In 2004, Sauer returned to UCS as an elementary band and strings teacher, where he created an all-district Honors Band and Orchestra for sixth-graders.
